Mao Ning, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks during a regular press briefing in Beijing in response to a media inquiry regarding concerns expressed by the so-called Quad mechanism over the current situation in the East China Sea and the South China Sea.

Mao said the current situation in the East China Sea and the South China Sea remains generally stable, adding that there is no problem with the freedom of navigation and overflights enjoyed by all countries in accordance with international law.

The spokesperson urged relevant countries to stop meddling in maritime issues concerning China's neighboring regions and to genuinely respect efforts made by regional countries to safeguard peace and stability.

"Attempts to form exclusive small circles, sensationalize tensions and provoke confrontation will find no support among the people," Mao said.
