Hong Kong to roll out extensive perks to mark 29th anniversary of return to motherland

HONG KONG, June 9 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will roll out a wide range of promotions and events to mark the 29th anniversary of its return to the motherland on July 1.

Organized by the HKSAR government and local community sectors, these offers and activities span public transport, culture, arts, leisure, catering and retail, bringing festive cheer to residents across the city.

For public transport, all tram routes will offer free rides to passengers from July 1 to 3. The MTR will give away 71,000 single rides through a lucky draw on July 1 and provide Airport Express discount offers. Moreover, free rides on several ferry routes will be offered to the public on July 1.

For culture, arts and leisure, the public will be offered free admission to a number of fee-charging leisure and cultural facilities of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and to the Hong Kong Wetland Park on July 1. They can also enjoy free admission to designated exhibitions at M+ Museum and all thematic exhibitions at the Hong Kong Palace Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District on that day.

As for dining and consumption, over 1,000 restaurants and merchants are expected to offer dining discounts on July 1.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Jockey Club will hold a special raceday event at Sha Tin Racecourse on July 1. The Peak Tram, Ngong Ping 360, Ocean Park Hong Kong and Tai Kwun will provide ticket offers.
