China's railway network is expected to handle 17.94 million passenger trips on Sunday, the last day of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, as return travel peaks nationwide, according to the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.

To meet the rising travel demand, a total of 1,355 additional passenger trains have been scheduled for the day, said the national railway operator.

On Saturday, China's railways handled more than 12.14 million passenger trips, with transport operations remaining safe, stable and orderly throughout the day.

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duanwu Festival, fell on Friday this year, and the public holiday runs from Friday to Sunday.
