BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- More than 647.86 million inter-regional trips were made during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which took place from June 19 to 21 this year, official data showed on Monday.

Road traffic accounted for the lion's share of these trips, with about 590.07 million trips made by road, the Ministry of Transport said.
Railway passenger trips totaled nearly 49.43 million, while the waterway passenger volume came in at 2.68 million.
Airlines handled roughly 5.68 million passenger trips during this period.
The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duanwu Festival, falls on the fifth day of the fifth month on the traditional Chinese calendar.
