A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson on Monday urged Japan to reflect on its crimes of aggression and make a clean break with militarism.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular press briefing when asked to comment on Japanese media reports that records from a 1940 Japanese military medical conference suggest that the Imperial Japanese Army may have conducted experiments in China involving the transfusion of animal blood into humans during its invasion.
Guo said that the invading Japanese army's large-scale, inhumane and heinous live-human experiments and bacteriological warfare will forever remain a stain on human history.
"Only by respecting the verdict of history and facts, recovering their missing pieces and upholding peace, can the tragedies of war be prevented from recurring. Japan's remilitarization represents a step backward and is a path of no return," said Guo.
"We urge Japan to sincerely reflect on its crimes of aggression, make a clean break with militarism, and earn the trust of its Asian neighbors and the international community through concrete actions," Guo said.
