Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a daily press briefing, adding this shows once again upholding the one-China principle is recognized internationally as the right thing to do.

Guo said the "Taiwan independence" forces and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities are going against the trend of history, and they are unpopular and are doomed to fail.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Honduras, bilateral relations have achieved rapid development on the basis of the one-China principle, and practical cooperation in various fields has contributed to Honduras' economic and social development, he said.

Facts have fully demonstrated that the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Honduras serves the fundamental and long-term interests of both countries and their peoples, he said, adding that China is ready to continue advancing its relations with Honduras on the basis of the one-China principle.
