Ding, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during an investigation and research tour of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from Thursday to Friday.
He urged efforts to fully, faithfully and comprehensively implement the Party's strategy for governing Xinjiang in the new era, and focus on the "Five Strategic Positions" set forth by the Party Central Committee.
He called for efforts to leverage Xinjiang's geographical advantages, deepen economic and trade cooperation with neighboring countries, and help Xinjiang become a golden channel across the Eurasian continent and a gateway for opening up to the west.
As the peak summer energy consumption season approaches, Ding urged efforts to ensure energy supply, strengthen dispatch management, advance the building of a national strategic base for energy and resources, and promote the smooth delivery and full consumption of clean power.
Ding also called for stronger research, development and application of advanced technologies to promote the green transformation of industries.
The vice premier stressed fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, advancing the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent, and encouraging more graduates to take root in Xinjiang and contribute to its development.
