China on Monday said it would offer an additional 100 million yuan (about $14.67 million) of emergency material assistance to Venezuela for earthquake relief and post-disaster reconstruction, on top of previous cash aid delivered to the country.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Guo Jiakun shared the information at a routine press briefing in Beijing when a reporter asked about China's relief support for Venezuela amid rising casualties from the earthquake.
Guo said the free material aid would be shipped to Venezuela at the earliest date. China has also supplied satellite images of the quake-hit areas to back Venezuela's disaster response efforts.
Chinese-funded enterprises and overseas Chinese communities in Venezuela have donated construction machinery and medical supplies, setting up rescue teams to take part in search and rescue operations.
"China stands ready to provide further support to Venezuela in light of evolving disaster conditions," Guo said.
