Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have been battling an outbreak of Ebola disease caused by the Bundibugyo virus since May, with most cases reported in DRC.
Two anti-epidemic medical expert teams sent to the DRC have also been highly commended by all parties, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mao Ning said at a routine press briefing in Beijing.
"The Chinese medical expert team arrived in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, and actively exchanged views with local health departments, medical research institutions, as well as the Continental Incident Management Support Team established by the World Health Organization and the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, providing services and guidance for epidemic prevention and control," Mao said. "China is ready to continue providing support within its capacity based on the development of the epidemic and the needs of the African side and to help our African friends overcome the epidemic as soon as possible."
