KUNMING, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed after a traffic accident occurred in Laochang Town, Fuyuan County in southwest China's Yunnan Province on Saturday, said local police on Sunday.

A cement mixer truck overturned after colliding with a small car at around 8 a.m. on Saturday, with the mixer drum crushing the car and killing six people, including the car's driver, according to the county's police.

Upon receiving the accident report, police, together with emergency and medical personnel, rushed to the scene to conduct rescue operations and initiate an investigation.

The truck driver, surnamed Liu, has been taken into police custody. Preliminary tests have ruled out suspicion of drunk driving or drug use. Further investigation and post-accident procedures are underway.
