Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks at a routine press briefing in Beijing in response to a question about the 2026 World AI Conference (WAIC) and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance.

Lin said the development of AI concerns the common well-being of all humanity. China opposes ideological confrontation and technology blockades, and is committed to balancing development and security while sharing its experience with other countries to promote global AI innovation and development.

He noted that the 2026 World AI Conference (WAIC) and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance will open in Shanghai on Friday.

"China will take the conference as an opportunity to engage in candid exchanges with all parties and build broader consensus, so that more developing countries can benefit from the intelligent era and technological progress can truly contribute to the development and prosperity of humanity," he said.
