BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhua) -- China has lodged stern representations to Philippine ambassador over provocations and attacks on law enforcement officers of the China Coast Guard (CCG) at Ren'ai Jiao, a Chinese foreign ministry said here on Tuesday, adding China is firmly determined to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.

Spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a daily press briefing in response to a related query, urging the Philippines to stop stirring trouble and groundless hype.

According to the spokesperson, on July 20, two boats from a grounded Philippine ship approached a CCG patrol boat in a dangerous manner and rammed it, and the Philippine side violently attacked Chinese law enforcement officers.
