BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Li Hongzhong, vice chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, met with a delegation led by David McAllister, Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs, in Beijing on Tuesday.

Li, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said the NPC stands ready to work with the European Parliament to maintain and build on the current momentum of exchanges, adding that the NPC will play an active role in helping China and Europe enhance mutual understanding and trust, respect each other's core interests, deepen practical cooperation, and jointly uphold multilateralism.

McAllister said the European Parliament is ready to strengthen communication and exchanges with the Chinese side to boost the development of EU-China relations.
