BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) -- An APEC ministerial meeting on human resources development is scheduled to be held on September 21 in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security said Wednesday.

The meeting aims to promote practical cooperation in human resources development across the Asia-Pacific, with a focus on fostering modern human resources and accelerating efforts to build an Asia-Pacific community, the ministry said.

Attendees will discuss topics including promoting high-quality and sufficient employment, improving the quality and efficiency of vocational training, and strengthening social security systems, said Ma Hezu, an official with the ministry.

Discussions on these topics are expected to deepen exchanges among APEC members and help forge broader consensus, thereby advancing the development and utilization of human resources across the region, Ma added.

The meeting will also examine how artificial intelligence (AI) is impacting employment across the Asia-Pacific, and explore ways to use AI to advance human resources development.

China will host the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Shenzhen in November, which marks the country's third time hosting the event following Shanghai in 2001 and Beijing in 2014.
