China's 2026 box-office revenue including pre-sales has exceeded 24.6 billion yuan (about $3.6 billion) as of noon on Wednesday, with domestic releases leading the chart, according to data from online Chinese ticketing platforms. The summer movie season, which runs from June 1 to August 31, has so far grossed more than 8.9 billion yuan (about $1.3 billion).
Domestic films have dominated China's film market this year. The current top four films on China's annual box office chart are the sports comedy Pegasus 3, Stephen Chow's comedy Kung Fu Soccer, the family drama Dear You and the animated film All Wishes Come True!. Together, they span a range of genres and appeal to diverse audiences, forming a strong foundation for the year's box office.
