China said on Thursday that its development has brought opportunities rather than "China Shock," and empowerment rather than a "China Squeeze" to the world, firmly rejecting narratives that portray China's development as detrimental to other countries.

Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks during a regular press briefing in Beijing when asked to comment on recent articles by economists including Harvard Kennedy School's Dani Rodrik and American Enterprise Institute's Michael Strain, who argued that China's trade policies have benefited rather than harmed other countries.
Lin said that an increasing number of people of insight around the world have expressed similar views.
"Affordable and high-quality products manufactured by China have lowered the barriers to industrialization for developing countries. Open and inclusive Chinese innovation has enabled more countries to access and afford cutting-edge technologies. Stable and reliable supply chains in China have enhanced the resilience of global industrial and supply chains, helping Global South countries accelerate their path toward modernization," Lin said.
Amid rising uncertainties and instability in the global economy, Lin added, China is willing to continue offering more market opportunities, innovation, and development prospects to countries worldwide through its own high-quality development.
