China on Thursday said that sanctions and pressure will not help resolve the Iran issue and called on relevant parties to seek a solution through political and diplomatic channels.

Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks during a regular press briefing in Beijing after US President Donald Trump announced plans to launch what he called "the most crushing economic operation" against Iran.

Lin said that relevant parties should take responsible actions and resolve the issue through political and diplomatic means.
