A China-donated smart rehabilitation device was officially handed over and put into use at the Clinical Emergency Hospital in Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan on Saturday.

The Digital Rehabilitation Therapist (DRT), developed by a Chinese team, is an intelligent system designed to assist rehabilitation. According to the development team, the system draws on a database of more than 100,000 clinical cases from Peking University Third Hospital. It integrates technologies including three-dimensional (3D) vision and AI-based motion recognition.

Using I-PRE technology and an adaptive human-pose recognition algorithm, the DRT can identify 35 body key points and provide rehabilitation guidance based on individualized medical movement protocols. The system is designed to support rehabilitation services from hospitals to communities and homes, while enabling continuous tracking and management of patients throughout the rehabilitation process.

The donation marks a practical step in bringing China's smart rehabilitation technologies to Central Asia and reflects deepening health cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Kyrgyzstan was one of the first countries to support and participate in the BRI. The deployment of the DRT in the country is also part of efforts by Chinese medical and technology partners to contribute to the Health Silk Road.

Wu Yan, a representative of the DRT development team, said the team will continue to promote the application of smart rehabilitation technologies in more countries and regions so that Chinese rehabilitation solutions can benefit more people.
