HONG KONG, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) - John Lee, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), said on Wednesday that he will announce Hong Kong's first five-year plan on Sept. 16 and subsequently release the 2026 policy address.

He told a press briefing that Hong Kong's first five-year plan sets out the blueprint for the city's economic and social development over the next five years, serving as a forward-looking, strategic and directional guiding document.

The policy address serves as an annual report on the chief executive's implementation of Hong Kong's first five-year plan and sets out the key policy priorities for the year in response to the prevailing circumstances, and the two are inextricably linked, he said.

He added that a policy address will set indicators as annual milestones, and in subsequent years, the policy address of the year will formulate targeted initiatives taking into account the international environment, economic projections, and latest dynamics to sustain the efforts in realizing the blueprint.
