BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- China stands ready to work with Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies to jointly build more resilient, efficient and high-quality food systems in the Asia-Pacific region, said an official with the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration.

Liu Huanxin, head of the administration, said China will strengthen policy dialogue, expand exchanges and deepen practical cooperation with APEC economies on food security. He made the remarks at the 11th APEC Ministerial Meeting on Food Security, held in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, on Tuesday.

The meeting adopted and released a set of principles to guide food security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region in the years ahead.

The principles highlight five priority areas, covering data-driven and science-based decision-making, technological innovation and application across the entire food system, broad participation and inclusive sharing, multi-stakeholder collaboration and public-private cooperation, and systems thinking and transformative development.

As a flagship event of the APEC "China Year," the meeting brought together around 200 delegates from the APEC economies, the APEC Secretariat and other international organizations.

It called on APEC economies to leverage innovation and digital technologies to strengthen food systems' ability to anticipate risks, withstand shocks and adapt to change, while improving efficiency.
