China hopes to work with BRICS countries to promote the resolution of disputes through dialogue and negotiation, and jointly safeguard peace and stability in the region and the world, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Friday.

Mao made the remarks at a regular press conference in response to a question about China's position on resolving various regional hotspot issues during the upcoming 18th BRICS Summit, which is set for Saturday and Sunday.

China advocates a vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security, Mao said, adding that China is committed to promoting the political resolution of hotspot issues through dialogue.
