Red Notice fugitive extradited back to China

BEIJING, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Zeng Nenggui, a fugitive suspected of duty-related crimes and listed on an Interpol Red Notice, has been brought back to China through international law enforcement and judicial cooperation, China's top anti-graft agency announced Saturday.

Zeng is a former poverty alleviation official in Ruijin City, east China's Jiangxi Province. He is suspected of accepting bribes in connection with poverty alleviation projects before fleeing overseas in January 2024.

Interpol issued a Red Notice for Zeng in January 2026. He was apprehended overseas and extradited to China this September, according to the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision.

Zeng is a typical case of misconduct and corruption in areas that directly affect people's interests, said an official with the Fugitive Repatriation and Asset Recovery Office of China's Central Anti-Corruption Coordination Group.

The return of Zeng marks an important outcome of China's efforts to advance the "Operation Sky Net 2026" campaign, the official said.

Official data showed that China repatriated 963 fugitives suspected of corruption in 2025.

China will continue to deepen international cooperation in combating corruption, further strengthen the "sky net" for pursuing fugitives and recovering illicit assets, and enhance its capacity to combat cross-border corruption, the official said.
