Ministry Minutes | China informs foreign embassies of DNA procedures for foreign nationals missing in border mudslide

China has informed relevant foreign embassies in China of the procedures for collecting DNA samples from the families of foreign nationals who went missing in the recent mudslide at China-Nepal border.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a routine press conference in Beijing on Monday when asked about the search and rescue efforts for foreign nationals who went missing in the disaster.

If the remains of foreign victims are found and their identities are confirmed, embassies will be promptly informed of arrangements for handling the aftermath, Guo said.

The Xizang Autonomous Region has also set up a hotline for the families of missing foreign nationals to provide timely assistance, he added.
