China on Tuesday urged the US to stop its military buildup and preparations in outer space, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said Tuesday.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular press briefing after the US Space Force claimed it possessed in-orbit space weapons.

China has consistently advocated for the peaceful use of outer space, maintained outer space security, and firmly opposed the weaponization, battlefieldization, or an arms race in outer space, Guo said, urging the US to take concrete actions to safeguard global strategic stability.
