China has stressed that Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's erroneous remarks and actions regarding Taiwan are the biggest crux of the serious difficulties currently facing China-Japan relations.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the statement at a routine press conference in Beijing on Tuesday when asked about China-Japan relations.

Liu Bin, China's assistant minister of foreign affairs, met on Monday with a visiting delegation of young members from the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union.

"Japan should honor the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, learn lessons from history and earn trust from its Asian neighbors and the international community with concrete action," the spokesperson added.

Guo expressed the hope that the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union will uphold its tradition of friendship with China, demonstrate a sense of responsibility, and create conditions and an environment for bilateral relations to return to the right track.
