China, Uzbekistan hold meeting on law enforcement, security cooperation

NANJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The second meeting of the China-Uzbekistan law enforcement and security cooperation mechanism was held on Wednesday in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province.

Chen Wenqing, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Viktor Makhmudov, secretary of the security council under the president of Uzbekistan, co-chaired the meeting and delivered addresses.

Chen, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, said China stands ready to work with Uzbekistan to fully deliver on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, give full play to the functional role of the China-Uzbekistan law enforcement and security cooperation mechanism, and strengthen exchanges between law enforcement and security authorities of the two sides.

Makhmudov said Uzbekistan stands ready to work with China to deliver on the consensus and outcomes of the meeting and open up new prospects for bilateral law enforcement and security cooperation.
