China urges the New Zealand National Cyber Security Centre to stop spreading lies and creating tension, and instead contribute to greater mutual understanding and trust between both sides, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular press conference on Thursday.

"China has always opposed cyberattacks and consistently taken action against such activities in accordance with the law," he said.

China also opposes the spread of disinformation on cybersecurity for political purposes, Guo added.
