Chinese VP says China willing to work with Serbia to lift bilateral ties to higher levels

NEW YORK, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Han Zheng said Thursday that China stands ready to work with Serbia to carry forward the traditional friendship, expand cooperation in various fields, and elevate China-Serbia relations to higher levels.

Han made the remarks while meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Han conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to Vucic. He said that over the years, China and Serbia have stood together amid a complex and turbulent international landscape, setting a fine example of friendly relations between countries.

Han depicted Vucic as an old and good friend of the Chinese people, who has long been committed to advancing China-Serbia relations and has personally promoted practical cooperation in various fields. Under the strategic guidance of Xi and Vucic, China-Serbia relations have been elevated to a new height, he noted.

Vucic applauded China's development achievements under Xi's leadership, and thanked China for its strong support and assistance in Serbia's national construction.

Deeming China a true friend of Serbia, he said that Serbia is ready to deepen practical cooperation with China in various fields so as to deliver greater benefits to the two peoples.
