3 missing after landslide-mudflow in east China's Fujian

FUZHOU, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- A landslide and mudflow occurred at a land-leveling project in Bili Township, Luoyuan County, east China's Fujian Province, at around 5 p.m. Saturday, leaving three people unaccounted for as of 11 p.m., according to the county emergency response authorities.

So far, two houses have been damaged, according to a release of the Luoyuan County emergency headquarters.

Following the incident, the county authorities quickly set up an on-site command center and activated the emergency response plan. Six teams comprising 116 professional rescuers were dispatched to search for missing people and carry out emergency response work. The blocked road has since been reopened, according to the release.

The county will continue search and rescue efforts, guard against secondary disasters, determine the cause of the incident as soon as possible and handle the aftermath, the release says.
