China's 2026 National Day holiday box office tops 1.16 billion yuan

China's box office during the 2026 National Day holiday topped 1.16 billion yuan (about $170 million), with daily revenue exceeding 100 million yuan for seven consecutive days, according to the China Film Administration.
The seven-day holiday period recorded nearly 32 million cinema visits and 3.29 million screenings, up 2.2% year on year. The average ticket price was 36.41 yuan, down 0.28 yuan, or 0.77%, from the same period last year. Domestic films accounted for 78.7% of total box office revenue.
The five highest-grossing films during the holiday were Sherlock of China with 423 million yuan, Mr. & Mrs. Pardon with 244 million yuan, Resident Evil 0 with 174 million yuan, Once Upon a Time in the Middle East with 55 million yuan, and Peppa Pig: Perfect Holiday with 54 million yuan.
As of Wednesday, China's total box office for 2026 had reached 30.746 billion yuan, with 784 million cinema visits.
