A power line between China and Laos has now carried more than 1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity since it began operation – a new high for the two countries.
The 500-kilovolt link is China's first cross-border AC interconnection of its kind. It switched on April 20. It's a flagship energy initiative under the China-Laos community with a shared future framework.
That same day, solar power from northern Laos flowed into southwest China's Yunnan Province – the first time an overseas renewable energy project fed into China's grid.
By August 6, hydropower from Laos was reaching the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Next, China and Laos will deepen cooperation on joint grid dispatch, cross-border operation and maintenance, market-based trading and emergency response.
The two counties will also push more green power and open more markets for clean energy.
