Speaking at the opening ceremony of the course, Paul Lam, secretary for justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, said that navigating foreign markets today requires not only a robust and proactive approach towards specific regions on risk management and regulatory compliance, but also a high-quality legal team providing pragmatic strategies for sustainable overseas success.

Hong Kong will further leverage its unique advantages as a common law jurisdiction under the principle of "one country, two systems," deepen Hong Kong's status as an international legal and dispute resolution services center, advance the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and strengthen regional co-operation with the mainland, Lam said.

The course addresses topics including the emerging challenges faced by Chinese enterprises going global, the European Union and United States export control measures and sanctions, as well as international commercial and investment arbitration.

Since its launch in November 2024, the academy has collaborated with around 30 international organizations and professional bodies to deliver capacity-building programs for over 5,000 participants worldwide.
