Baiyun Mountain, northeast of Guangzhou, is one of the most celebrated mountains in southern Guangdong and has long been known as the First Beauty of Yangcheng. More than 30 peaks spread across 21.8 square kilometers, with over 95 percent vegetation cover, have earned it the nickname “Guangzhou's Urban Lung.” Trails lead to forests, springs, stone inscriptions and historic villas, while viewpoints open onto a memorable panorama of mountains meeting the city. Since the Tang and Song dynasties, poets and statesmen have climbed the mountain, leaving a rich cultural legacy alongside its outstanding biodiversity.
