The Nanyue King Museum is the first site-based museum in the Lingnan region. Built around the 2,000-year-old tomb of Zhao Mo, the second king of the Nanyue Kingdom, it combines a tomb protection area with exhibition buildings on the hillside. The painted stone burial chamber is the largest Han-period stone tomb discovered in Lingnan and one of only four undisturbed feudal-king tombs of its era. Excavated in 1983, it is recognized as a major 20th-century archaeological discovery. Red sandstone architecture, jade burial objects and striking displays make the museum an essential stop for understanding Guangzhou's early history.
