China has imposed export controls on Japan with the objective of thwarting Tokyo's remilitarization and attempts to acquire nuclear weapons, foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Wednesday.

China implements the measures in accordance with the laws and regulations, Mao said at a regular press briefing.

China's position of keeping the global industrial and supply chains of critical minerals safe and stable has not changed, she said. All parties have the responsibility to play a constructive role to this end, the spokesperson added.
