"China's activities in the Arctic are aimed at promoting the peace, stability and sustainable development of the region and are in line with international law," Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mao Ning said at a daily press briefing in response to a question about the new Arctic strategy the European Union unveiled on Tuesday.
"Dividing countries into blocs out of a Cold War mentality and provoking geopolitical confrontation are not in the interest of peace, stability and development in the Arctic," Mao added.
