Chinese medical team delivers free healthcare, TCM training in Sierra Leone
The 27th Chinese medical team to Sierra Leone has conducted a series of free community health clinics across the capital region this month, delivering specialized pain management, general care and medical training to local residents.
The medical outreach, organized by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Center at the Sierra Leone-China Friendship Hospital under China's "100 Medical Teams in 1,000 Villages" program, included a special TCM session at the Calaba Town Health Center to mark Thursday's 35th World Traditional Medicine Day.

Targeting widespread chronic conditions caused by heavy physical labor, Chinese specialists and local staff served nearly 100 residents in Calaba Town. Doctors used specialized therapies – including Fu's Subcutaneous Needling, balance acupuncture, tuina massage and scraping – providing immediate relief for chronic neck, shoulder and joint pain.
Earlier this month, the team also provided multi-specialty screenings in the western suburbs, including blood pressure and glucose checks, general consultations and cataract screenings for future free surgeries. Besides treatments, specialists offered health education, taught therapeutic exercise routines and delivered hands-on clinical training to local doctors using real cases.

Mohamed K. Fabba, head of the Calaba Town Health Center, commended the initiative for addressing pressing community healthcare needs and expressed hope for expanded cooperation.
The medical team confirmed plans to broaden grassroots services and clinical training across the country under the China-Africa Health Partnership Initiative.
