Mount Ni (Nishan) of Qufu is the birthplace of Confucius, whose ethical and philosophical teachings continue 2,500 years later to have a far-reaching influence on Chinese civilization and beyond. As such, Qufu can be considered the spiritual home of Chinese all around the world. The local government therefore has been working to develop the "Nishan Holy Land" into a world-class cultural tourism destination. In September, various Confucius themed events will be held in Nishan.
