SHANGHAI, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- From hair to heart, global medical companies at the ongoing second China International Import Expo (CIIE) are taking thorough care of visitors from around the world.

It is easy for a "clinician" of Restoration Robotics, a U.S.-based company, to complete thousands of monotonous but precise movements of harvesting hair follicles during a hair transplant surgery, as this medical expert is a robot.

For human hair transplant clinicians, robots developed by the company are good helpers that can free them from tedious and exhausting work during surgeries.

"Harvesting intact hair follicles is a crucial step in a hair transplant surgery, which usually takes a clinician three to four years to master. The robots are no different from mature clinicians," said Rebecca Gan, national sales manager of medical aesthetics of Chindex Medical Limited, the sole agent for the robots on the Chinese mainland, at the expo held from Nov. 5 to 10 in Shanghai.

Hundreds of medical companies from the United States, Russia and other countries attended the expo, which cover medicines and medical equipment targeting cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer and other diseases.

Medtronic, an international company providing medical technology, services and solutions, officially launched its wireless cardiac pacemaker at the expo.

"We look forward to working with innovators from different countries and industries to showcase the future of healthcare technologies through the expo," said Alex Gu, Medtronic senior vice president and president of Greater China.

"We will work with our Chinese partners in the healthcare industry to promote the upgrading of healthcare services and wider access to quality healthcare, and bring more innovative solutions to achieve the goal of a healthy China," Gu added.

China has been promoting its Healthy China initiative, which aims to improve the national health policy and ensure the delivery of comprehensive lifecycle health services for the Chinese people.

In 2016, China's healthy life expectancy reached 68.7 years, surpassing that of the United States for the first time. Chinese people not only live longer lives, but also healthier ones.

"There is no other platform like the CIIE anywhere in the world that enables enterprises to fully display their influence and participate in first-class forums and exhibitions while enjoying first-class transaction effects at the same time," said Luca Xu, stakeholder partnership director, Corporate Affairs and Market Access of Roche Diagnostics (Shanghai) Limited.
