FOCAC marks milestone for China-Africa cooperation

Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan on Monday met with the delegation of diplomatic envoys of African countries to China at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) at the Great Hall of the People, calling for further implementation of the outcome of the FOCAC Beijing Summit held in September 2018.

Wang said that the China-Africa relations have witnessed unbreakable solidarity and incredible achievements thanks to efforts by generations of government leaders and people from both sides. Organizing the Coordinators' Meeting on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on FOCAC marks an important step for China and Africa to jointly implement the fruitful undertakings of the summit. It is a major highlight in this year's China-Africa relations.

He also stressed that the two sides should continue to integrate ideas, build consensus and promote cooperation. China will continue to work with African countries to forge a deeper strategic partnership and build a closer community with a shared future.

Representatives of the African delegation noted that the China-Africa ties reflect the significance of “South-South cooperation". They said they appreciate China's development model and great achievements, and look forward to working with China to jointly implement the Belt and Road Initiative as well as the outcome of the FOCAC Beijing Summit.

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi also attended the meeting.
