Zhang, 60, has been under investigation for disciplinary violations including taking bribes, frequenting luxurious venues, and trading his power for sex, according to a decision made at a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

He started his career in August 1975 and joined the Communist Party in January 1978. He majored in finance at the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics and obtained a PhD.

Zhang’s suspected criminal case was transferred to the procurator for review and prosecution according to law, and the assets involved were transferred, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said.
