Former Shaanxi official Wei Minzhou stands trial on corruption charges

Wei Minzhou, former deputy director-general of the Standing Committee of People's Congress of Shaanxi Provincial Committee, went on trial in Chenzhou Intermediate People's Court in central China’s Hunan Province on Friday, for being charged with taking bribes over 100 million yuan (15.4 million US dollars).

Wei has been charged with taking bribes worth over 109.783 million yuan when holding high-ranking positions in Shaanxi Province. 

Wei pleaded guilty to the charges. The court is set to announce its verdict at a later date.
