North Korean officials said late Friday night that US Vice President Mike Pence’s claim to stop the North’s propaganda during the upcoming Winter Olympics is aimed at undermining the improved relationship between the two Koreas.

According to a White House statement, Pence will lead the US delegation and hold a series of press conference during the Winter Games. (Xinhua)

A former Hawaii state worker who sent false missile alert last month said Friday that he’s devastated about causing public panic but was “100 percent sure” at the time that the attack was real.

The man’s superiors said they knew for years that he had problems performing his job. The worker had mistakenly believed drills for tsunami and fire warnings were actual events. His colleagues also said they were not comfortable working with him, according to state officials. (AP)

Poem of the Weekend from William Butler Yeats (20th-century Irish poet):

“When you are old and grey and full of sleep, / And nodding by the fire, take down this book,/ And slowly read, and dream of the soft look / Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; / How many loved your moments of glad grace, / And loved your beauty with love false or true, / But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, / And loved the sorrows of your changing face...”
