A Chinese trade delegation is preparing for their trip to the US for consultations, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Geng Shuang said Monday at a daily press briefing.

“Similar situations when the US threatened to impose tariffs on Chinese products have happened many times. The position and attitude of the Chinese side have always been very clear, and the US is very clear about this,” said Geng.

“We still hope that the US and China will work together to meet each other half way and strive for a mutually-beneficial agreement on the basis of mutual respect. This is not only in the interest of China, but also of the US. It is also the common expectations of the international community,” Geng said. (People's Daily app)

(Answer: An egg.)

Today's quote is from English poet W. H. Auden (1907-1973).

"A poet is, before anything else, a person who is passionately in love with language."
