Chen Xiongfeng, deputy director-general of the Department of Consular Affairs of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told a press briefing that US law enforcement agencies have repeatedly used various methods such as immigration checks and on-site interviews to harass Chinese citizens recently.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese embassy and consulates in the United States reminded Chinese citizens traveling to the United States and Chinese-funded institutions in the United States to raise their security awareness, step up precautions and take appropriate and preventative measures. BeiDou satellite expo opens in east China

A satellite exposition opened Tuesday in Nanjing, capital city of east China's Jiangsu Province, displaying the latest navigation technologies and products of BeiDou satellites.

The three-day exposition, the second China (Nanjing) BeiDou Satellite Navigation Application Expo, will attract 200 exhibitors and 5,000 visitors, according to its organizer.

Over 30 scholars and academicians from the satellite and smart industries will also participate in a forum during the expo. (Xinhua)

China warns of severe floods in major rivers

China's Ministry of Water Resources on Tuesday warned that severe floods are expected to hit the country's major rivers this summer and called on local authorities to prepare for floods.

Floods are expected to hit the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the Huaihe River, the Xijiang and Beijiang rivers in the Pearl River valley, as well as the Minjiang River, said the ministry.

The country is also likely to see slightly more and stronger typhoons this year, it said. (Xinhua)

Mexican president says he expects deal with US over immigration

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Tuesday said he expects to reach a deal with the United States over immigration before Washington carries out its threat to enact punitive tariffs.

US President Donald Trump says he will impose a tariff on all Mexican goods beginning June 10 if Mexico does not halt a surge in immigrants, mostly from Central America, crossing into the United States from Mexico.

Mexico is preparing an immigration proposal to present to US officials at a meeting scheduled for Wednesday in Washington. (CGTN)

At least 4 killed in mass shooting in north Australia

At least 4 people were killed in a shooting incident in Australia's Northern Territory (NT), local police said on Tuesday evening.

At a press conference broadcast live on social media, police commissioner Reece Kershaw said that police were notified of multiple shots in Darwin around 5:45 p.m. local time.

"We don't believe this is terrorism related," said Kershaw. "This is one individual who acted individually."

Police locked down parts of the city, and a 45-year-old man was later arrested, after allegedly opening fire again at other different locations. (Xinhua)

China confirmed as host of AFC Asian Cup 2023

China was confirmed as the host of the AFC Asian Cup 2023 at the AFC Extraordinary Congress in Paris on Tuesday.

After South Korea dropped its bid last month, China was set to host the quadrennial tournament as the sole bidder.

China last hosted the Asian Cup in 2004, reaching the final of that year's tournament. (Xinhua)
