China will make more cancer drugs affordable, as a new round of negotiations between the country's state medical insurance administration and pharmaceutical companies to add such drugs to the medical insurance list is scheduled to finish by the end of September.

The administration said it has selected a range of drugs to be added and is confirming the producers' willingness to further negotiate.

All of these drugs are of great clinical value and will bring huge benefits to patients with different blood cancers or solid tumors, including colorectal cancer, renal cell carcinoma, lymphoma, and chronic myelogenous leukemia, said the administration.

China has exempted import tariffs from all common drugs including cancer drugs since May 1. (Xinhua)

Volleyball legend Lang Ping and table tennis star Liu Guoliang are among the five nominees named by China to run for the second edition of the IOC Coaches Lifetime Achievement Awards, the State General Administration of Sport of China (SGAS) announced on Friday.

Joining Lang and Liu on the nominees list are Zhang Jun (badminton), Sun Haiping (athletics) and Zhou Jihong (diving).

The SGAS said in a statement that the five coaches have been nominated based on their career performances.

But the nominations are subject to change pending public opinions, added the SGAS.

The IOC Coaches Lifetime Achievement Awards were launched last year. It is an initiative of the IOC Athletes' Entourage Commission to raise awareness about the athletes' entourage and recognize the important role coaches play in supporting athletes on the road to their sporting dreams. (Xinhua)

US is backtracking on Trump-Kim summit agreement

The foreign minister of North Korea said on Saturday he was increasingly alarmed by US attitudes towards the isolated state but said it remained firm in its determination to implement the nuclear deal it reached with Washington in June.

Ri Yong Ho stressed that it's important for both sides to take "simultaneous actions and phased steps."

"The DPRK stands firm in its determination and commitment for implementing the DPRK-US Joint Statement in a responsible and good-faith manner,” said Ri. "What is alarming, however, is the insistent moves manifested within the US to go back to the old, far from its leader's intention." (CGTN)

Turkey will freeze the assets of two US officials in retaliation for US sanctions against Turkey's justice and interior ministers over the detention of an American pastor, Turkish President Recep Erdogan said Saturday.

Turkey's interior minister and justice minister mocked the sanctions against them this week, saying they have no assets in the US.

Erdogan called the sanctions "serious disrespect toward Turkey" and accused the US of hypocrisy for demanding the release of evangelical pastor Andrew Craig Brunson while Turkey tries him over alleged links to terror groups. (AP)
