Great changes unfolding in 'high mountain villages'

Located at the junction of Xiamen, Quanzhou and Zhangzhou, four villages in Lianhua Town, Tong'an District, Fujian Province, Junying, Baijiaoci, Xikeng and Danxi, are the highest and most remote villages in Xiamen, East China’s Fujian Province. Through more than three decades of ecological restoration and industry revitalization work, the villages have undergone changes in terms of living conditions and natural environment.
In 2020, the per capita income of Junying village reached 41,665 yuan ($6,541), and the village’s collective income exceeded 729,000 yuan. Thanks to the tea business, the collective income of Baijiaoci Village that year was 637,600 yuan with a per capita income of 41,280 yuan.
