Guangxi sees foreign trade surge 57.2 pct in Jan.-April

NANNING, May 14 (Xinhua) -- South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region reported robust foreign trade growth in the first four months of 2023, according to the local customs authority.

Guangxi's total imports and exports from January to April hit 222.58 billion yuan (about 32 billion U.S. dollars), up 57.2 percent year on year.

Exports rose 76.9 percent year on year to 113.51 billion yuan, and imports increased 40.8 percent to 109.07 billion yuan, data from the Nanning Customs shows.

Trade between Guangxi and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations totaled 104.91 billion yuan, accounting for 47.1 percent of Guangxi's total import and export value.

During the period, the exports of mechanical and electrical products increased 77.4 percent year on year to account for 58.5 percent of Guangxi's total export value. Its exports of labor-intensive and agricultural products also registered growth.
