Hainan released a list of 1081 first-level protected ancient trees

Recently, Hainan released a list of provincial first-level protected ancient trees, 1081 ancient trees (over 300 years old) included.

Ancient trees are the gifts of nature and the precious resources left by predecessors, which are of great historical, cultural, ecological, scientific research and economic value. The ancient tree refers to the trees over 300 years old. Those 1081 ancient trees belong to 34 families, 55 genera, and 74 species. Among them, the most numerous tree species are Ficus altissima, Lychee, Tamarind, Banyan and Lithocarpus fenzelianus, and the oldest one is the Tamarind tree that has lived for 1500 years in Longwo Village Committee, Xinlong Town, Dongfang City, where there are 3 Tamarind trees over 1,000 years old.
