Tang Jinlian, 71, has cut hair for 38 years.

In 2002 she opened a hairdressing shop for the elderly in Yuelu district of Changsha, capital city of Central China's Hunan Province.

She has charged 3 yuan a cut for 20 years.

When she first arrived in difficult financial circumstances in Changsha, Tang remembers many kind people helped and cared for her.

That's why Tang made a pledge to herself to repay society by always charging 3 yuan, or 50 US cents, a cut.

In a letter one elderly customer praised Tang's spirit of "priceless honesty."
